Another batch of daily poems for you.

I’m going to my first poetry class this evening!

NUMBER 72 (6.22)

Rubber ducks come in all varieties these days

So much so that it’s nearly impossible to find

an original rubber ducky

with no horns or hats or outfits.

Mina’s rubber ducky collection is up to 72.

This one on the coffee table is dressed

as a member of a barbershop quartet:

white buttoned blazer with red stripes

red bow tie, boater hat with red ribbon.

It has a delighted expression on its ducky face

beak open as if in song.

I say to Mina, “I feel like this one needs a name.”

“That one already has a name,” Mina says.

Underneath they had written in sharpie:

“LUCIFER”
